Kindergarten News Term 2

Wow, we can’t believe we are up to 81 days of Kindergarten! We have learned so much this term and are really excited to be coming closer to 100 Days of Kindy next term.

READING: We have continued to consolidate all single sounds of the alphabet. We love reading groups where we get to read with our teacher and peers from our class.

WRITING: Our Kindergarten classes have loved our writing theme this term, Kindy Become Authors. We have been linking our writing to each of our class author studies, as well as to Science and History.

HISTORY: We are now learning about celebrations and how we celebrate with our families. Some of our favourite celebrations are our birthdays!

SCIENCE: Kindergarten students have been discussing changes in the weather and how we can protect ourselves in different weather conditions. We have been reporting to our class about the weather each day and predicting if the weather will change throughout the school day. We were lucky enough to take part in the EnviroMentors Incursion during Week 7 where we learnt all about composting and worm farms - we now know what we should and shouldn’t feed the worms!

MATHS: We have been reading and writing numbers to 20 and learning how to add and subtract using our fingers, blocks and counters.

ART: Picasso has been an inspiration for some of our art this term.

INVESTIGATIONS: Kindergarten is continuing their investigation journey and are very excited to start to visit the other classes during investigations and to work with new friends. Some of our current investigations include exploring space, ice cream shops, a vet, babies, a post office and we even have a JB Hi Fi Store!
